Print and Projected Image of the Year Memorial and Perpetual Trophies

Entries submitted during the previous twelve months may be entered into either the Print or Project Image of the Year competition. Entries into these competitions occur in November, with the prizes awarded at our December club meeting.

The winners have their names inscribed on the trophy for that category and this trophy is “theirs” for the remainder of the year, after which time a medallion is presented to the holder.

The categories for these trophies are:

  • Fred Schult Memorial – Open Print of the Year

This trophy is awarded to the member whose photograph is judged to be the best open print for that year.

It was first presented as the Fred Schult Memorial Open Print of the Year in 1995 in memory of a long serving and valued club member. Fred served many years on the committee and was the club treasurer for more than 10 years. He was also awarded an Honorary Life Membership of our club.

Each member can submit up to four photographs in this competition, but these images must have competed in one of our monthly open print competitions during that year.

  • Ralph Petty Memorial Trophy – Small Print of the Year

This trophy is awarded to the member whose photograph is judged to be the best small print for that year.

It was first presented as the Ralph Petty Perpetual Small Print of the Year in 2008 in recognition of our popular, and still active, founding member.

Each member can submit up to four photographs in this competition, but these images must have competed in one of our monthly small print competitions during that year.

  • Denis Thompson Memorial Trophy – Projected Image of the Year

This trophy is awarded to the member whose photograph is judged to be the best projected image for that year.

Initially awarded as the Denis Thompson Memorial Slide of the Year in memory of an active and significant member, who was President of our Club at the time of his death, it was renamed in 2007 to include digital images. The trophy now covers both digital and slide images – which make up our projected images category.

Each member can submit up to four images into this competition, but these images must have competed in one of our monthly projected image competitions during that year.

  • Ron Johnston Memorial Trophy – Landscape/Seascape Projected Image

This trophy is awarded to the member who is deemed to have the best landscape or seascape projected image of the year.

Initially awarded as the Ron Johnston Memorial Trophy for Landscape / Seascape Slide of the Year in 1974 by Mrs Ivy Johnston in memory of her late husband, it was renamed in 2008 to include digital images. The trophy now covers both digital and slide images – which make up our projected images category.

Each member can submit up to two images into this competition, and these images do not necessarily have to have competed in one of our monthly competitions.

  • Ed Conway Memorial Trophy – Landscape/Seascape Print

This trophy is awarded to the member who is judged to have the best landscape or seascape print of the year.

The Ed Conway Memorial Trophy was first awarded in 1988 in memory of a former member.

Each member can submit up to two images into this competition, and these images do not necessarily have to have competed in one of our monthly competitions.
